Saft launches the Smart Battery Selector, a handy tool that helps you choose the right battery for your IoT project.
When working on an IoT application, the choice of the right battery is often not made until the last minute. However, it is wiser to think about the possibilities at the beginning of the project.
This brings a number of interesting benefits. This allows you to optimize your device’s power requirements to find the best possible solutions to extend the life of your device while ensuring that it gets the power it needs to operate.
Knowing the size of the battery is also an important consideration when designing your device. But most importantly, the battery is an important part of the total cost of ownership of your projects and should not be overlooked if you want your project to succeed.
That’s why Saft has created the Smart Battery Selector, a tool that, in just 7 steps, can help you discover which batteries fit your use case, how much space you should leave in your product design for batteries, what the price is, and what average life you can expect from your battery once integrated into your IoT device. After completing the 7 steps, you can choose to receive the PSF report. To try the Smart Battery Selector, click on the link below.

For all products that contain a battery (or are loose), a disposal fee must be paid to Stibat. This is in line with international laws and regulations (environment). This also applies to devices that are supplied with batteries (e.g. torches).
Stibat has announced new rates for the disposal fee (or management fee) that will go into effect on 01-01-2021. On average, the amounts will increase by about 5%. View the list of the new rates here.
Looking for a reliable flashlight that can take a beating and last for years? Coast’s Polysteel is increasing in popularity at an incredible rate and we’re not surprised! In this article you will read the 5 reasons why a Coast Polysteel is the ideal flashlight for any professional.
1. The Polysteel is waterproof (IPX8)
Coast’s Polysteel lamps are IPX8 certified. This means that the lamps are waterproof to a depth of three meters. This means that the Polysteel can easily handle a heavy rain, or falling into a puddle of water.
2. The Polysteel is virtually unbreakable
Many a flashlight does not survive when dropped on the lens. The stainless steel housing along with the Poly-Nylon case of the Polysteel ensure that the flashlights can withstand a fall up to 3 meters in height. Even if a heavy object falls on the lamp or if someone steps on it, the lamp will not be damaged. The Poly-Nylon casing not only ensures that the flashlights can be used in harsh conditions but also offers a nice grip and is comfortable to hold.
3. The Polysteel has a very high light output
The Polysteel is available as 200, 400, 600 and 1000 versions. All four of these have very impressive light outputs of 320, 440, 710 and 1000 lumens, respectively, for their respective sizes. The non-rechargeable variants all run on alkaline batteries in a cartridge that are included (Polysteel 200 & 400: AAA, the 600 & 1000: AA). Two models also have a rechargeable version, the Polysteel 400R (440 lumens) and the Polysteel 600R (710 lumens). These can be used with either alkaline battery or a lithium-ion battery, both included. The lithium-ion battery can also be used as a power bank to charge other devices via USB.
4. Different light modes
The Polysteel lamps feature three different light modes: high, medium and low. Switch easily between modes with the push of a button. The Polysteel also features Twist-Focus: by twisting the head of the flashlight, you switch between Bulls-eye spot beam to shine far or close to illuminate a large area with the Ultra-view flood beam.
5. Warranty: 5 years
Coast is an American brand with over 100 years of experience. That’s why you know that with a Coast flashlight, you’re getting quality. Coast offers a 5-year warranty on all their flashlights for a reason.
If you work in an environment where your equipment is under constant load then the Coast Polysteel is the ideal lamp. The Coast Polysteel range consists of the 200, 400 (R), 600 (R) and 1000. Six models with all six different specifications, but all equally hufterproof. The Polysteel is the perfect flashlight for any craftsman.

Elfa has been around for over 100 years, and our logo has also been around for a few years. You may have noticed that our website has a new logo since this year. The reason for this is that Elfa is a family business. For example, the first logo was chosen by the grandfather of our current director, Pieter Schutte, around 1920. After Pieter Schutte took over the company, the logo received a makeover, to embody the new start. Now the next generation is ready to take over (Daan Schutte) and with that comes a new version of the logo. Read more about the history of Elfa.
The Gladius 3K at maintenance of the British railroad (Network Rail).
In collaboration with Setolite, Elfa developed a new floodlight for a partner in the British Rail industry. The request for the new wide-area floodlight came from one of our partners in the UK who needed the lamp for maintenance work on the British railroad. The Gladius 3K has a huge light output of 33,000 lumens and it consumes about 85% less power than a comparable halogen lamp. The Setolite Gladius work lamp is so special because it uses different colors of LED (warm white and cold white). This makes the light color more like daylight and the lamp works best in fog, steam or smoke. Click here for more information about Gladius 3K.

Elfa wishes everyone a safe and happy Easter. Take care of one another!
We will be closed from 12:00 on Friday 10 April. This long weekend gives our employees a chance to recover from this turbulent period. Next Tuesday we will be available again at 8:30 am!
Overloaded soldier
Soldiers nowadays are carrying more and more technical gadgets, which increases the weight that must be carried by the soldier. The result is an overloaded soldier, which has a negative effect on his maneuverability and survival, among other things.
Because Elfa is not only a wholesaler but also a knowledge center with over 100 years of experience, we were invited to talk about the developments of ‘smart batteries’. Elfa has a lighter ‘smart’ backpack battery that can power (almost) any device on a soldier’s body. This battery is not only lighter, but also a lot safer. This is because it is a battery that does not go into thermal runaway after penetration. Would you like more information about Elfa’s smart batteries? Please contact us.
